The Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport is located in Subang, just 30 kilometres from Kuala Lumpur. Named after the eighth Sultan of Selangor, the airport served as Malaysia's main airport and international gateway prior to the opening of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in 1998. During its heyday, the airport handled up to 15 million passengers through its three terminals. The airport now serves as the hub for two smaller Malaysian airlines, Berjaya Air and Firefly.

The airport offers flights from both Berjaya Air and Firefly to several destinations daily. Berjaya Air flies to Redang Island, Tioman Island and Koh Samui, Thailand. Firefly flies to 6 domestic cities; Alor Setar, Johor Bahru, Kota Bharu, Kuala Terengganu, Langkawi, and Penang. In addition, Firefly offers flights to Batam, Kerteh, Medan, and Pekanbaru in Indonesia, Koh Samui in Thailand, and Singapore.

The airport, which used to have three terminals, now operates from Terminal 3, with both arrival and departure halls located at the ground floor of the building. Facilities at the airport include car rental counters, Automated Teller Machines, currency exchange and restaurants.

Operating Hours

The airport's normal operating hours are between 6:00 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. In event of flight delays, the airport will remain open until the flight has taken off, or has been cancelled.

The airport is located in Subang, roughly 30 kilometres from Kuala Lumpur. Coupon taxis are available at the airport and the average fare between Kuala Lumpur and the airport is RM75.

Bus Service

Public bus service between Kuala Lumpur and the airport is also available. Buses arrive at 30 minute intervals on an average in front of MAS Complex A of the airport.
