Sarawak River Cruise (1D)
Cruise along the Sarawak River and enjoy some of Kuching's major historical sites!
MORE ABOUT THIS TOUR
This tour allows you a unique view of Kuching as you cruise along the Sarawak River. Admire the lovely monuments of yesteryears and an era gone by and see how life has remained relatively unchanged on the river.
Itinerary
Your cruise begins as you board the specially built pontoon boat that offers unobstructed views of the river. Although the city has seen a lot of development, you will notice how many Malay villages along the river still retain their identity, merging modern aspects into traditional designs. The Sarawak River is a busy river, with brightly painted longboats, known locally as tambangs, ferrying passengers across its banks, and many fishing boats and cargo vessels still ply through her waters.Admire the beautiful architecture of the City Mosque and marvel at how an adventurous man and his descendants built a kingdom through sheer determination and luck as you glide along some of the monuments of his era. The Astana – the stately palace of the White Rajahs, and Fort Margherita – the imposing Tudor styled fort that protected the city, are but a few of the White Rajahs' legacies that dot the cityscape.
Finally, dock at the Kuching Waterfront and admire the myriad of colours at the Orchid Garden there before wrapping up your delightful river tour.
