Malacca, which has a popular river cruise in the city, is to introduce a rural river cruise soon. Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Ng Yen Yen announced an RM800,000 allocation to get a cruise going on the Sungai Rambai.

The Malacca River Cruise will soon have its rural cousin, the Malacca Rural River Cruise

“We have decided to call it the Rural River Cruise because it will pass through villages and tourists will see jungle, swamps, birds, animals and orchards,” she said after launching the pamphlet for the Rambai River Cruise.

The allocation, which was for two years, would also be used to build facilities such as a hall and walkway at the cruise boarding and alighting point, she said.

Ng said the cruise facility would also generate more income for the 19 homestay businesses in the area, at an average of RM3,000 per month.
