Malaysia will be the first country in the region to fly to Bosnia-Herzegovina when the air agreement between both countries is implemented early next year.
Its Ambassador to Malaysia, Ensar Eminovic, said the agreement was expected to be implemented by year-end or early next year.
He said the country’s Minister of Transport and Communications, Rudo Vidovic, signed the agreement with Malaysia’s transport minister yesterday.
“The air transportation agreement is important to both countries to boost air transport,” he told reporters after the briefing on ‘Malaysia Global Business Forum — Bosnia Herzegovina’ here on Tuesday.
Eminovic said currently, Bosnia has four international airports and its air transport providers had not enough capability to fly long distance.
“Our airlines at the moment are not able to organise long-distance flights due to technical reasons. That’s why we want to have a link with Malaysian airlines,” he said.
He said Bosnia has established air links with its neighbours like Croatia, Serbia, Austria and Turkey.
Eminovic said the agreement would help Malaysian airlines established a gateway to the lucrative European market.
On the forum, Eminovic said it would be held at Borneo Convention Centre, Kuching on Nov 8-11.
