Joint Venture Gets RM740 Million Qatar Airport Contract

The New Doha International Airport Steering Committee has agreed to award to the Sinohydro-Gamuda-WCT joint venture a 760 million Qatari riyal (RM740 million) contract.

“The contract is for the provision of airfield paving, tunnel and detention ponds works for the new Doha International Airport,” WCT Bhd said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia here Friday.

WCT said with all the previous variation orders issued by the committee under the contract and this award, the total contract value has now increased from the original sum of RM1.75 billion to RM3.27 billion.

The completion date for the project has been extended to January 2011, it said.

It said the deal was expected to contribute positively to the earnings and net assets of the group for financial years 2009 to 2011.
