Nasi Lemak
The iconic Nasi Lemak is considered by many to be the national dish of Malaysia. If you don't try it during your trip to Malaysia, you may as well have stayed home!
MORE ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE
A common breakfast dish, Nasi Lemak's main component is the rice which is steamed with a mixture of coconut cream, pandan leaves and other spices.
The result is a very fragrant and tasty foundation for a hearty breakfast! Compliments such as ikan bilis (tiny dried anchovies), hard boiled eggs, roasted peanuts, sliced cucumber and hot chili paste (sambal) create the quintessential Nasi Lemak dish, with various vendors offering their own additions as sides.
Interestingly enough, Nasi Lemak is served in a variety of manners: on a plate, packed in newspaper or brown paper, and/or wrapped in banana leaves. It is because of this versatility that Nasi Lemak can be eaten at anytime!
