This package takes you to one of the most famous religious sites in Malaysia, the Batu Caves. Located within a cave network just north of Kuala Lumpur, the Batu Caves are a series of shrines dedicated to Hindu deities, most notably Lord Muruga. Every year, the Batu Caves are the focal point for the Thaipussam festival, a celebration of Lord Muruga's victory over a mythical demon.
Itinerary
The highlights of this tour are the Batu Caves and Pewter Workshop. The main cave, Temple Cave, is a large cavern with a vaulted ceiling about 100 m above the floor. Many Hindus pay their devotions to the Lord Murugan by climbing the 272 steps to reach the entrance. Then, visit a pewter workshop to see the actual process of making these wares. There will be a visit to a handicraft centre.This short tour begins with a short drive from Kuala Lumpur north towards the Batu Caves. a series of shrines dedicated to Hindu deities within a spectacular cave network. The entrance to this marvel lies at the end of a 272 step stairway which rises up the mountainside. Visitors to this holy site are greeted by the world's largest statue of Lord Muruga, an important deity in the Hindu pantheon. This usually quiet temple complex is transformed into a vibrant sea of colours and sounds yearly as worshipers flock here during Thaipussam, a festival celebrating Lord Muruga's victory over a mythical demon.
