Swanky on the outside, haphazard on the inside, this hotel is a study in contrasts for me...

A thoroughly appealing modern design with lots of glass and marble and other shiny surfaces is betrayed ...by the haste with which this hotel was put together.

I checked in while the hotel was still under construction, but they were already accepting guests, even on the 6th floor, which was a huge mistake in my opinion. The 7th floor was still under construction which meant that I was rudely jolted out of bed at 7 in the morning by the sharp sounds of men working on the concrete right above me.

The breakfast buffet was a well-designed feast though and I had a wonderful meal there, tasting the unique Sarawak Laksa alongside some "normal" breakfast items for me like toast and jam.

Then I discovered that the floor of the shower in my room was actually canted AWAY from the drain, causing all the water to cascade INTO the rest of the bathroom rather than down the drain. Many towels were sacrificed in mopping up the resulting flood and I wasn't too pleased...

Upon closer inspection, what appeared to be a well put-together room had peeling wallpaper in the corners and just generally careless finishing.

I wouldn't stay here again, even though the staff seemed perfectly friendly, it's just not my idea of a home away from home with all the rough edges and what they charge for a room.
