Diving in Lankayan Island (4D/3N)

LANKAYAN ISLAND DIVE RESORT AT LANKAYAN ISLAND

A jewel-like tiny island in the Sulu Sea, an hour & a half boat transfer's north of Sandakan. Lankayan is soon to be declared part of an immense Marine Conservation Area. Unpopulated and covered by thick tropical rainforest on its topside, this peaceful, untouched little bit of paradise is ringed by an endless pure white sandy beach, offering simply elegant and exquisite accommodation in a handful of wooden, roomy and perfectly appointed seafront double-occupancy chalets.

Meals are informally served at the central open building, which boasts an amazingly beautiful open-air wooden terrace, the ideal spot for after dinner, relaxation and chatting, all the while admiring the dozens of juvenile blacktip sharks swimming leisurely a few feet beneath. While the ideal destination for those who search tranquility and relaxation in a virgin natural setting and for families with children, Lankayan Island is also one of the hottest diving destination on the map today : its dive sites - all just a few minutes away - boast unbelievably colorful macro fauna, fascinating wrecks and in season from March to May, regular sightings of gigantic and harmless whale sharks, the "dream date" of every diver in the world.

Day 1: Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Lankayan

Arrive at Sandakan airport via on flight MH 2042 (0805/0845).

Meet & transfer to jetty. Depart for Lankayan Island at 1000 hrs. The boat journey will take about 1.5 hrs. Lunch at the Resort.

There will be a briefing session followed by an orientation dive & a boat dive in the afternoon Overnight at Lankayan Island Resort. (Lunch/Dinner)

Day 2-3: In Lankayan Island

Whole Day diving - 3 boat dives + unlimited shore dives.

Overnight at Lankayan Island.

Day 4: Lankayan Island to Sandakan

Depart Lankayan Island at 0700 hrs to Sandakan. Transfer to Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre. Trek ten minutes through the rainforest on wooden plankwalks to witness the feeding of the Orang Utans. These animals are protected and they will be released into the wild once completion of the rehabilitation period. You can gather more information of this centre by watching their video presentation.

Lunch at Sepilok Nature Resort, transfer to Sandakan airport for flight MH 2709 (1415 / 1500) to Kota Kinabalu.
