Broken Hearts, Tortured Ears: Karaoke in Malacca
We took a break from exploring Malaysian culture and cuisine to indulge in that wonderfully tacky tradition in which western and eastern pop cultures converge: karaoke. Fair warning: watching this video may result in damaged eardrums and a deflated sense of faith in the good will of the universe. We recommend cleaning your ears out with some Mozart, Mendelssohn or Motörhead after viewing.
Ninja Vs. Samurai: Malaysian Snack Food
We sampled some of the Malaysian snack food and beverages which we’d picked up over the past day or two. We were intrigued by flavourings we’d never encountered, and, in one case, strangely affecting packaging. We decided to capture our reactions to these new and exciting taste sensations for posterity’s sake, and are now happy to share them with you.
The Massage Is The Medium
Ian had been left a tad traumatized after his experiences at the fish spa, so he was initially hesitant to check out another Malaysian spa. However, after we assured him that it would be human hands rather than fish mouths which would be gently massaging his feet at the Sunflower Spa, he was more than happy to take a load off and relax after a full day on Langkawi.

After a few wrong turns, we were well off the beaten path and found ourselves cruising through a tiny village. When we pulled over to get our bearings, we found ourselves at the edge of an enticing looking neighbourhood market that was just getting underway. Dozens of stalls were set up offering all manner of food, and locals were busy picking out their favourite dishes.
